    Default Dyeing soon

I think I'm going to give this a try...been watching some of the youtube vids, and I have a few ideas for stencils to try. I think maybe next weekend I may begin work. Keep your fingers crossed....

According to Josh, you should keep your fingers COVERED. He seems to get a lot of small finger cuts.

Yeah...I have some quick tips for you...first go get a 360 degree swivel x-acto knife. This alone will make your life a lot easier. Also you can get the vinyl from any sign shop which is what I did with all of mine at first. But a guy on DiscgolfersRus uses Con-Tact paper. You can find it in Wal-Mart in the kitchen area. It's used for covering the insides of your cabinets. He says to get the clear kind. This will save you $$$$ the vinyl is pretty expensive. I am going to do my first with the contact here in a couple of days. So I can't vouch for it completely but it works great for this other guy. He has a lot of experience with it. Next I would say invest in a light box...if you don't want to get one. Find a piece of glass (picture frames work great)and mount it on your lap and put a lamp under it. Gives the same effect. It's just more dangerous having a sheet of glass hanging around somewhere. If you have anymore ?'s ask me I have done over 20 now and have gotten pretty good at it. Just remember to be patient it's time consuming but worth the pay off for your super custom disc. Also I would get a copy of photoshop somehow and make you graphics in there. Good Luck...be sure to post them in the dye section when your done with em too! =)

No finger cuts....just finger cramps. Its tedious while being time consuming and fingers don't like that at all. They down right hate it.

Thanks for the advice - we shall see how this goes. My go-to Firebird (as much as I have a go-to disc) is dy(e)ing for a dye.

Here's my first try. It was originally a white 168g star Beast - hence the dye.

I made a few little booboos - had four air bubbles, but they're subtle, and one crease bleed on the outside. The outside edges are rough by design - the lines are clean. This picture has lens flare that makes the wings look incomplete, but they're all the way complete.
